ARCT History - Romantic to Modernity

This survey course provides students with a general awareness of various tends, artistic movements and political beliefs that resulted in the complexity and conflict of our modern era. Students will learn how national and international events effected composers, the music they wrote and their stylistic goals. Students will also be required to write an independent essay using their own research on topics such as musical theatre, jazz and electronic music.
